CLASS LEADERSHIP BIOGRAPHIES
He has worked for Yale and our class in many capacities since graduation, as a fund raiser and later co-chair of agents, as an Alumni Schools interviewer and then committee chairman, at the Yale Club of Washington, D.C., where he was the President in 1991-92, and as our class rep to the AYA. He is an avid reader and even more avid Red Sox and Yale football fan who does a lot of exercise, traveling, and volunteer work. He'd love to hear from any classmate: jameskwhite@me.com, or 202-333-0590.
David has worked in magazine publishing, financial sales, and currently for the largest processor of credit cards, always in sales. David was a member of the Alumni Schools Committee for many years and could never understand why none of his applicants was ever admitted. As a Drama major and Dramat member, officer and president, David met Ginny senior year in the University Theatre. Ginny teaches and studies ballet and they spend almost all of their discretionary income on theatre and ballet tickets. David has long served on the Dramat Alumni Advisory Board. He also produced the Friday night entertainments at our 35th and 40th reunions. He was our AYA Class Rep for the three years after our 40th. He claims to have very creative ideas for enlarging the Class Treasury so make sure your checkbooks are easy to find! Email David at dhonneus@comcast.net.
"Born and raised" in Poughkeepsie, NY, CorSec, after local schools, went to Yale (sight unseen), fancying chemical engineering that by sophomore year, after sober assessment of lab aptitude, was replaced by History. Spent four sisyphean years trying to beat Harvard on the lightweight crew, beating Princeton once but Harvard won the same race (4/10 of a second) so they got the shirts. Went to Yale Law School without a career plan, had a short but interesting legal experience in D.C., followed by a rewarding stint on the Governor's staff in Maine, on to Harvard B-School (met wife there) and a banking career with The First National Bank of Boston. After early years of international assignments in Hong Kong and Taiwan, returned to Boston to become an energy industry banker and reach exalted heights as a Managing Director. In 1999, that once-eminent Boston institution, after a series of self-inflicted setbacks, was acquired by the upstart Fleet Bank, and the future Corsec, fortified by a strong severance package, decided it was time for a less driven existence, which continues. He earned his BA in English from Yale, and has won a Professional Journalism (Knight)Fellowship to Stanford and participated in the Executive program at the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern. Since retiring I have spent my time with my Ham Radio hobby, sailing with the family and donating time to a local charity that raises money to help families in crisis with an emphasis on child abuse prevention. I am currently treasurer of the organization. Additionally, I enjoy attending Yale sporting events, especially hockey, which has enjoyed considerable success in recent years. Patricia and I plan to do more traveling when we are completely empty-nesters. Email Gus at gustavhedlund@msn.com.

My prior class experience includes a term as Class Secretary in the 1970s, Chairman of our 15th Reunion and writing class obituaries for the past 25 years. Married since 1968 to Barbara, we live in New Haven, now on the Quinnipiac River after 3 decades in the Westville Section of town. We have 4 children: Rob (Adrienne) in New Haven, Mac (Lela) in Santa Barbara, Patrick in Oakland, and Kate in New Haven, plus 2 grandchildren, Liam and Seamus. I am still actively practicing law with my firm (insurance defense and trials). I served 30 years in the Reserves, retiring in 1995 as a Navy JAG Captain, having started as an enlisted deck hand. I was in the Connecticut Legislature and on the New Haven Board of Aldermen (about 40 years ago). My activities and hobbies include Yale Sports, especially hockey and swimming, hiking and back packing, traveling and Red Sox baseball. I also pay dues to what seems like a list of innumerable organizations. Email Bob at oliver@moglaw.com. |
