From Dick Sauber:
(September 2009) Greetings Classmates, and
welcome to our web page. As we round the bend headed into our 40th Reunion,
I wanted to tell you about what we intend to do to bring more of our
classmates (back) into the fold. A few of us thought of using the 2010 Feb
Club parties (http://febclub.webs.com/)
as a way to increase attention on and attendance at our next New Haven get
together, not to mention just an excuse to have some fun in the middle of a
long gray winter. In each Feb Club location we will try to have a Class of
1972 representative responsible for rounding up as many attendees as
possible in the hope that reconnecting with old friends (and meeting some
new ones) will entice people to think about coming in 2012.
Check out the location list at the website
I provided and let me know if you would like to volunteer for the task of
sending out a few e-mails in the various cities mentioned. AYA will of
course help out. Let me know directly (rsauber@robbinsrussell.com)
- I look forward to hearing from you.
I am not Class Secretary because anyone
cares about my views, political or otherwise, but I cannot help mentioning
how depressing it seems at this moment here in Washington when school
districts around the country feel compelled to screen out the President.
Whether you supported President Obama or not, the idea that his address to
school kids about working hard and staying in school would be
controversial seems, well, depressing.
Finally, it is a regrettable fact of life
that we are at an age when we are losing friends and family members with
increasing frequency. A well-attended memorial service at our reunions is
here to stay, I am afraid. I have learned that spouses of deceased
classmates welcome hearing from other classmates, regardless of how close
the connection. Please keep it in mind as the years roll by.

From Rusty Pickett (yale72scribe@aya.yale.edu): Greetings from your corresponding secretary and web master. This site is intended to provide interesting information for and about our class and especially our reunion this year. As such, it will only be as good as the input you provide - I can't create what I don't know! With your help, suggestions and comments, we can have a bunch of fun with it, while, at the same time, letting our classmates know what is going on in our lives! Thanks for supporting our class, and I look forward to hearing from you! Rusty |
