I regret that Mark Hoffman passed away. I had not even been aware of this fact. He was a nice guy, rather easy-going as I recall. He grew up right around the corner from me, though I never met him until I got to Yale. I enjoyed playing tennis with him once in Greenwich. I had not seen him in many years.
The list of classmates who passed away does not include Thomas Hanlon, who started with us in '72 but graduated with the Class of '73. I recall that Tom Hanlon died during our 1982 reunion. I recall that he was a bright guy who was rather different from my other classmates in that he wasn't caught up in left-wing causes. Most of the fanatical Yale leftists were from the east. Tom was from Colorado and had a different attitude. Very much interested in philosophy. I believe that he had a sister. I have no idea what caused his death in 1982. I wished that he hadn't died so young. I would have enjoyed keeping up with him and seeing what he was up to.
